NetCom ab announces the expansion of voice over internet protocol and wireless internet access services in Poland
NETCOM AB ANNOUNCES THE EXPANSION OF VOICE OVER INTERNET PROTOCOL AND WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS SERVICES IN POLAND New York and Stockholm - October 24, 2000 - NetCom AB (Publ) ("NetCom", "the Group") (Nasdaq: NECSB), one of the leading alternative pan- European providers of telecommunications and related services, today announced the expansion of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and wireless internet access services in Poland. NetCom launched its VoIP service in Poland six months ago and currently has 500 business customers. It is now also targeting the domestic consumer market through national and international VoIP services, which are priced up to 65% lower than those offered by Polish Telecom the PTT. NetCom's wireless internet service offers permanent, always-on internet access with speeds starting at a minimum of 32 kbps up to 512 kbps and at a fraction of the cost of leased line services. The target customer base consists of small and medium sized businesses (SMEs). The service is now being offered in Warszaw, Krakow, Gdansk and Poznan and will be rolled out further over the coming months.
