NETCOM HOLDS 99.7% OF SOCIÉTÉ EUROPÉENNE DE COMMUNICATION S.A New York and Stockholm - October 2, 2000 - NetCom AB (Publ) ("NetCom", "the Group") (Nasdaq Stock Market: NECSB), one of the leading alternative pan-European providers of telecommunications and related services, today announced that it holds 99.94% of the Class A shares in Société Européenne de Communication S.A. ("SEC"), and 98,64% of the Class B shares, amounting to 99.7% of the total issued share capital in SEC, which follows the announcement made on September 28, 2000 that NetCom had acquired more than 99% of SEC. The number of newly issued shares in NetCom, as a result of the acquisition, is 40,748,480, of which 11,911,315 are Class A shares and 28,837,165 are Class B shares. The total number of NetCom shares now in issue is 144,598,726, of which 40,748,480 are Class A shares and 103,850,246 are Class B shares. NetCom, formed in 1993, is a leading alternative pan-European telecommunications company offering fixed and mobile telephony, data network and internet services under the brands Tele2, Tango Comviq and Q- GSM to over 9 million people in eighteen countries.
