Tele2 Lowers its Tariffs on Long Distance Calls

Tele2 lowers its tariffs on long distance calls Tele2 AB in Sweden today announced it will lower its tariffs on domestic long distance calls from February 8, 1999. Tele2 will thereby retains its position as the more competitively priced alternative to Telia on the Swedish telephony market. From the February 8, a domestic long distance call will cost 0:32 SEK per minute on Tele2's network on weekdays between 8 am and 6 pm. On Telia's network the price will be 0.40 SEK per minute from February, 2. At all other times a domestic long distance call will cost 0:18 SEK per minute on Tele2's network and 0:20 SEK on Telia's network. Tele2's tariff for local calls will remain unchanged at 0:20 SEK per minute. Tele2 customers benefit from only 8 local call areas compared to in excess of 200 call areas for Telia customers, this means that many local calls made with Tele2 would be classified as long distance calls if made with Telia. Tele2 Internet access customers pay 0.11 SEK per minute when accessing Internet services through Tele2's network.
