PacketFront delivers Gigabit termination units to KPN in The Netherlands.

KPN, the leading telecommunications and ICT service provider in The Netherlands, has selected Ericsson and its partner PacketFront to deliver a new Gigabit FTTH Network Termination unit (MC901). KPN started the deployment of the MC901 in August this year in support of their large scale Fiber-to-the-Home services rollout. The MC901 provides fiber-to-copper termination for customer premises and is specifically designed to fit the Universal Fiber Termination Unit used as the standard FTU in the Netherlands. The MC901 will be simply clicked onto the Universal FTU at every customer that selects KPN’s Fiber based services.

The MC901 provides a very cost-effective fiber-to-copper termination at KPN's customer’s premises and supports a seamless migration from 100Mbit/s to Gigabit Fiber based services to the Home.

“We have discussed our complete product range of FTTH CPEs (Customer Premises Equipment) with KPN and are proud to have found the best solution for the specific end-customer environment enabling KPN to use their current selection of copper based residential gateways. In addition, delivering this product in high volumes through our partner Ericsson to the leading telecommunications provider in the Netherlands marks a next phase in PacketFront’s growth and partnership with Ericsson”, says Peter van Bourgondien, Director of Business Development at PacketFront.

PacketFront will deliver the MC901 in the years to come and in support of KPN’s large scale Fiber-to-the-Home services rollout.
