Norsk Fibernett, an association of several fiber networks in Norway, provides fast Open Access broadband in Norway. Today Norsk Fibernett has approximately 4.000 customers and delivers services in Oslo, Bergen, Asker, Bærum, Tønsberg, Numdal and Kvam. To consolidate the different networks, Norsk Fibernett has chosen to use PacketFront’s BECS provisioning and control system, ASR routers and DRG CPEs. NetNordic, PacketFront’s Norwegian partner, will deliver and implement the solution under a 3 year contract. The new broadband network will be a further development of today’s fiber networks. ‘’Due to the purchase of different fiber networks, we now have several platforms in our portfolio. After a thorough evaluation of the technologies, we concluded that PacketFront’s solution suits our requirements best. We have plenty of experience with fiber networks and we consider PacketFront’s BECS solution as the most effective and stable solution on the market. Now we can deliver high-speed broadband, TV and telephony with guaranteed quality to our customers,’’ says Glenn Nøstdahl, CEO Norsk Fibernett. ‘’We are glad to contribute with our expertise and technology to the Norsk Fibernett project. Our experience shows a clear trend to combine multi-technology, whether it is FTTH, Wimax or xDSL, and multi-vendor networks under one umbrella. This provides a homogenous environment for service and subscriber provisioning as well as network management. PacketFront’s BECS control and provisioning system is the most flexible solution for this purpose available on the market’’ says Timo Kuusela, VP Nordic Sales. Norsk Fibernett will extend its newly consolidated network with several thousand connections per year and plans to continue building out regional fiber networks throughout Norway.
