Set in London’s East End, THE 14 (cert TBC) also known as The Wild Little Bunch or Existence, is based on the true story of 14 children who struggle against overwhelming pressures to stay together after the death of their single mother. Made available here for the first time in any format, this rare and remarkable film drama is presented in a brand-new transfer from the original film elements. THE 14 will be available on DVD from 28 October, RRP £9.99, courtesy of Network.

Heading the cast is Oliver! star Jack Wild, who plays 17-year-old Reg – the eldest of the children, and committed to keeping his young family together after a promise he made to his mum played by Eastenders’ Dot Cotton (June Brown). THE 14 was the second film directed by Blow Up star David Hemmings, and received a Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1973.
