Oscar-nominee Richard Todd introduces this fascinating documentary from 1952.  THE ELSTREE STORY is available on DVD on 8 July, RRP £9.99, courtesy of Network. 

Starting in 1927 when the first film, The White Sheik, was made there, THE ELSTREE STORY features excerpts from over 40 productions – including Hitchcock’s Blackmail, the first feature-length British talkie ever shown – with early appearances by some of cinema’s greatest stars.
