4 Shy Girls, 4 Books, 4 Dreams - One Awesome City!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 14, 2012 (CHICAGO, IL) – Four Chicago authors have released the first their four-part novel series “Shy Town Girls” beginning December 1, 2012. Part romance, part urban adventure and part transitioning to adulthood, these books are an enticing mix of gritty real life and active imagination, all based in the vibrant setting of Chicago.

The first book is already available on Kindle http://budurl.com/ShyTownGirlsKindle and in softback on Amazon http://budurl.com/ShyTownGirls1.

An additional three books in the series will be released throughout 2013. True to the books’ social media thread, the authors are pre-selling the series through Pubslush, an online forum where readers can pre-buy books.

Melissa G Wilson, founder and publisher, decided to show rather than tell three talented, young female writers, what the new world of publishing is all about. She adds, “This series is to Chicago what Sex in the City was to New York”

The novel series is truly different – from its inception to its storyline. “Collaborative publishing” is an effort that starts with multiple authors who work together to flesh out characters, story lines and surrounding detail.

Instead of having a single author pass along a story to review, the authors work together through the entire process. This gives the characters an incredible life-like dimension.

The story line is this: four beautiful, shy but brave young women search for love, friendship and success in Chicago. They share insights on work, dating, their sex lives (or the lack thereof) and find new ways to deal with being women and dating in the digital age. You’ll meet Bobbie, Ivy, Ella and Meryl, four young women who are as passionate about their careers as they are about their love lives,

The four authors are:

Katie Leimkuehler, writer, professional blogger and social media strategist. She founded the web site Conquer The Edge, which helps people overcome their fears. Her fictional character is Ivy Westin, a party girl who started out in a small town and came to Chicago to make her mark and meet “a guy she actually likes.” She adds, “When we started this collaborative project I decided I wanted to write about a character I would love to interact and doing things that made people gasp and laugh.”

Jennifer Yih, University of Wisconsin graduate, social media coordinator and world traveler. She has lived in Brazil and Italy and explored countless other countries. Her character is Bobbie Bertucci, who she describes as “parts of me throughout time.” Bobbie is fascinating because of her complexity. Jennifer adds, “Like many other women, she tends to be moody to nearly emotionally unstable at times, defending her independence, ambitious, beautiful, intelligent, insecure, and confused as to what or how to identify true love and the overall meaning of life. I know its sounding deep, but what’s life without depth.”

Kate Clinesmith, Michigan State University graduate worked as a “brand chemist” and loves fashion, shoes and hopes to start her own business. She wrote Eloise up as an extension of herself, they both share a passion for footwear and a drive for finding themselves and achieving great things. Ella has a lot of fears, as do most young women at the beginning of their adult lives with career and romance as the main culprits.  She adds, “writing a character who is a relatable woman who takes fears and turns them in to an opportunity to better herself is inspiring for myself and I hope to the readers.”

Melissa Giovagnoli Wilson is the founder and president of Networlding, a publishing and social media marketing firm focused on publishing in the new digital world. Melissa is also the author and/or co-author of fourteen other books. Her seventh book, co-authored with former CMO of Office Depot, Jocelyn Carter Miller, held a #10 spot on Amazon for a year. One of her books was featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Similar to her character, Meryl, Melissa loves to mentor young professionals, especially women, to help them get better starts in their careers. Shy Town Girls is her first project as both a mentor and publisher.

Excerpt: I felt the pressure in my chest, like 100 tons of weights trying to crush my heart.

“Charlie, I’ve been in love with you since the minute I met you, but this isn’t right and don’t look at me like you’re so innocent,” I said.

“Oh no,” he threw his head back, “this again Bobbie, Jesus.” “You cheated on me!” I shouted.

“That was over a year ago, before you even moved in!” he said just like he’d said it for the past two years.

“No, you’re at it again. I’m not at idiot. Let’s go,” I said getting out of the car. He grabbed my arm, “Wait.” I raised my eyebrow looking at his hand on my arm.  He let go.

The authors are available for interviews and speaking engagements. But you’ll often find them eating at Hugo’s Frog Bar, Zellas or Café Ba-Ba-Reeba, or shopping at Akira, Top Shop or Nordstrom Rack.
