Fashionable Fitness Apparel Line Puts the Focus on Community, Not Profit 

[KANSAS CITY, MO – November 7, 2013] – NEVA Activewear, a new fitness apparel brand on a mission to change the lives of women across the globe, has just announced the launch of its inaugural crowdfunding campaign to raise capital for its new BE THE CHANGE line via Kickstarter.

NEVA was developed by philanthropist and second-generation fashion/garment entrepreneur, Sacha Nana. Nana’s desire to empower women through inspiring activewear took her across the globe to South Asia, where she realized she could change women’s lives by partnering with them to create her line. NEVA is proud to be able to offer stylish, active apparel that looks good and does good.

Each NEVA Activewear garment features high-quality fabric, savvy design, and a hand-stitched inspirational message embroidered by a female artisan in South Asia. NEVA helps transform these women’s lives with each stitch, paying them 10 times their typical wages and giving them the income they need to provide food, healthcare and education for their families.

“We currently employ small groups of artisans in communities across South Asia but NEVA is more than a job for these artisans; it’s an opportunity for a better life and a brighter future,” says Nana. “The reality is that only one-third of the region’s working-age women have paying jobs, and many are underpaid.”

In order to produce their next line and continue their efforts in South Asia, NEVA is looking to raise funds via a crowdfunding campaign they launched with Kickstarter on November 6. With their goal of $50,000 achieved, NEVA Activewear will have the funding they need to launch their BE THE CHANGE line in early 2014.

NEVA’s launch collection, appropriately named BE THE CHANGE, is featured as part of the rewards on their Kickstarter campaign. This collection includes two designs: a relaxed fit, all- purpose hoodie made from soft, French terry cotton and an athletic, slim-fit jacket made from high-performance nylon and LYCRA® retailing at $89 each. As campaign donors empower themselves through exercise, these inspirational messages will remind them of the lasting impact they are making on women’s lives around the world.
