Showcases advanced and cost efficient techniques for dynamic metadata insertion and monitoring for terrestrial television deployment

NAB, booth SU3117, March 13, 2013Nevion, a leading provider of next-generation digital terrestrial broadcasting and managed media transport solutions, is sharing its unrivaled ability to dynamically adapt ATSC feeds for the efficient and reliable delivery of TV services. The technology is part of the most advanced suite of terrestrial broadcasting solutions on the market. The strength of the solution is backed by the joint resources of the new Nevion — a recent merger of Nevion and T-VIPS.

“In an increasingly complex broadcast infrastructure, our unparalleled terrestrial broadcasting solutions simplify the day-to-day operations of the network operator, reduce their costs, and open doors to new revenue streams,” said Geir Bryn-Jensen, CEO, Nevion. “NAB gives us the perfect opportunity to highlight the latest advances to our customers, including dynamic updates of PSI/SI/PSIP tables to fulfill FCC requirements for updated and correct Electronic Program Guides. This mechanism offers greater cost advantages compared to existing solutions and simplifies the operation of distributed networks.”

TV stations and network groups using the Nevion CP505 ATSC Processor can efficiently deploy new multiplexes and tailor regional service packages by adding or removing content. Dynamic Program and System Information Protocol (PSIP) handling ensures easy insertion of data that creates the EPG. In addition, the PSIP Editor feature allows for extraction, editing and insertion of correct PSIP data to ensure a high quality user experience and correct PVR operation.

Nevion’s CP505 was recently chosen by systems integrator TBC Integration for the world’s largest religious television network, Trinity Broadcasting Network. “Not only does the CP-505 provide ASI source redundancy switching and add the necessary ATSC static PSIP, it also takes XML data from Trinity’s Myers ProTrack automation system to generate and insert dynamic PSIP,” said Sean Busby, executive vice president of TBC Integration. ”This unit combines three critical functions, into a 1RU compact, cost-effective solution.”

In addition to ATSC solutions, Nevion will also highlight its DVB-T/T2 solutions. Through its merger with T-VIPS, Nevion has become the foremost provider of customized terrestrial broadcasting DVB-T/T2 solutions worldwide. NAB marks the first public showcase in the USA of its easy-to-use terrestrial broadcasting solution. In cooperation with a major network, Nevion is pioneering DVB-T2 in the US by participating in official trials.

At NAB Nevion will showcase a comprehensive suite of solutions for ATSC, ISDB-T and DVB-T2 including the award-winning DVB-T2 Gateway, the flexible cProcessor transport stream processing and multiplexing products, and the robust nSure range for redundancy switching, in-service monitoring and management.

Visitors to NAB booth #SU3117 can learn how the Nevion team has helped broadcasters and TV stations worldwide through successful digital switchovers. Recent installations include the supply of multi-product solutions for leading network infrastructure providers such as Teracom Denmark, major Finnish telecommunications companies Digita and DNA, Austrian Broadcasting Services (ORS), UK-based Arqiva, as well as broadcast operators in Croatia, Estonia and Russia.
