New DVB-T2 solutions encompass enhanced SFN capabilities and improved spectrum utilisation

Sandefjord, Norway—August 14, 2013—At IBC, stand 1.B71, Nevion, a leading provider of next-generation managed media transport, will showcase new digital terrestrial solutions, encompassing new SFN capabilities, improved spectrum utilisation, and DAB/FM distribution to transmitters.

Now backed by the complete portfolio from T-VIPS, Nevion’s easy-to-deploy DVB-T/T2 solutions simplify day-to-day operations, reduce costs, and help the world’s leading service providers and broadcasters take advantage of new revenue streams.

“To remain competitive in the new media landscape, the high efficiency, improved robustness and increased flexibility of digital solutions are essential,” said Helge Stephansen, senior solution architect at Nevion. “We’ve applied smart engineering to make the most of these benefits, maximising efficient use of valuable broadcast frequency spectrum for audio, video and data delivery.”

New at IBC, Nevion’s SFN capabilities include unique redundancy changeover solutions to maintain SFN operation, centralised and distributed local programme insertion, and multiple solutions to build reliable SFN networks over varying network types - IP, satellite or wireless. Applying advanced technologies that improve spectrum use and reduce costs, Nevion enhanced DVB-T2 solutions feature EPG insertion that provides up to 5% increase in spectrum efficiency.  Contribution via visually lossless, extremely low latency JPEG 2000 compression provides enhanced quality for final DTT broadcasts, as well as the ability to offer additional services.

New DAB/FM distribution to transmitters enables cost-effective migration from microwave to terrestrial IP-based infrastructure for DAB+ broadcasting, with bit rate efficient FM radio distribution by APTX audio compression over IP.

The dominant DTT technology provider in Europe, Nevion offers customised, multi-product solutions for communications leaders such as Teracom Denmark, Teracom Sweden, Austrian Broadcasting Services (ORS), and Arqiva.

Nevion’s DVB-T/T2 solutions include the award-winning cProcessor line of transport stream processing solutions, the DVB-T2 Gateway suite providing full-featured HD content delivery, seamless switching and monitoring solutions, and Connect remote monitoring and management solution for flexible, robust digital solutions for a rapidly-changing media environment.
