Dallas, Texas – February 4, 2014. The World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth is partnering with the New Cities Foundation to present the third annual New Cities Summit, which the City of Dallas will host from June 17-19 in the Dallas Arts District.

The theme for the 2014 Summit is "Re-imagining Cities: Transforming the 21st Century Metropolis." The New Cities Summit, launched by the New Cities Foundation in Paris in 2012, is described by its organizers as "the leading global event on the future of the urban world."

Mayor Mike Rawlings of Dallas and Maxwell Anderson, Director or the Dallas Museum of Art, jointly announced Dallas as this year’s host, at the 2013 Summit in São Paulo.

"The World Affairs Council is thrilled to partner with such a significant international event," said World Affairs Council Executive Vice President and Dallas Chief of Protocol Beth Huddleston, who attended the São Paulo Summit.

"The New Cities Summit not only draws global attention to the city," she said, "but also is recognition that Dallas is a leader in developing the things that help a modern city function as a 'hometown' for millions of people. This is a wonderful opportunity for our residents and city to benefit from this important moment. The Council is proud to be a part of this important Summit."

Mathieu Lefevre, Executive Director of the New Cities Foundation, said: Where better to have a conversation about re-imagining cities than Dallas, with its vibrant arts district and can-do approach to tackling urban challenges.  We look forward to having this important global conversation on transforming the 21st century metropolis, and we’re grateful to the World Affairs Council for their valued support in making this event the best it can be.”

Around 800 participants from around 40 countries are expected to attend the New Cities Summit in Dallas. Attendees will include the world's most forward-thinking urban leaders, mayors, CEOs, architects, entrepreneurs, academics, thinkers, urban planners, scientists and artists -- all focusing on the future of the urban world.
