BOULDER, Colo., April 20, 2012 -- As we stop to celebrate Earth Day this Sunday, a growing religious movement is holding a worldwide Earth Day event to explore what God has to say about the looming threat of environmental decline on our planet.

The Worldwide Community of the New Message is a religious movement whose members are dedicated to restoring the environment of Earth, preserving our life-sustaining resources and working towards unity among the world's nations and religions. On April 22nd they will host their 2012 Earth Day Broadcast, a gathering of people of different faith traditions to seriously consider the urgent steps needed to restore our planet.

“As a Woman of the New Message,” says Jeanine Butler of Boulder, Colorado, “I feel it is my responsibility to do all I can to help the world. With Climate Change, Peak Oil and a population of 7 billion people now on our planet, those of us in the wealthier nations must begin to make real sacrifices. The New Message inspires me to make these sacrifices and is showing me what I must do to contribute to a world in need."

Stretching across 33 countries, the Worldwide Community of the New Message believes that God has delivered a modern-day revelation about the plight of our planet through a man named Marshall Vian Summers. On April 22nd, Summers himself will deliver the 2012 Earth Day sermon, broadcast live at www.NewMessage.org/live.

Totaling over 9000 pages, Summers' revelation has been translated into 15 languages and is studied by thousands of students worldwide. Though they represent a vast diversity of religious and cultural traditions, the “People of the New Message” share one thing in common: a deep commitment to Earth.

Summers claims he has received a "New Message from God" concerning the most pressing issues of our day, including the destruction of our environment, the collapse of Earth’s biodiversity and the impacts of a changing climate on nations, economies and even religions . “It is time now to face the world we have created: a world in decline” said Summers. “It is time to start preparing for the future, so that we will have a future. It is a matter of necessity.”
