    New Wave Group’s profit for the first quarter substantially exceeds market expectations

    The interim report for New Wave Group will be presented on 27 April, but as New Wave Group expects to report a profit for the first quarter 2021 which substantially exceeds both previous year and market expectations based on analysts’ estimates, preliminary numbers are released for the quarter. Operating result for the first quarter 2021 increased by SEK 124 million to SEK 100 (-24) million. Net result increased by SEK 105 million to SEK 68 (-37) million.     Measures within Orrefors Kosta Boda AB New Wave Group AB and Orrefors Kosta Boda AB (OKB) has decided to initiate trade union negotiations concerning extensive measures within OKB in order to create conditions for an immediate and long term profitability in the company.     New Wave Group AB (NEWAb.ST) is acquiring all of the shares of Paris Glove of Canada Inc. for a sum of CAD 16.5 million. During 2010, Paris Glove reported sales of CAD 28 million with an operating profit (EBIT) of CAD 2.8 million.     Ann Gustafsson, currently acting as CEO of Orrefors Kosta Boda AB, has been appointed new CEO of Orrefors Kosta Boda. Since 1 August 2010, Ann Gustafsson has been the Chief Operating Officer of Orrefors Kosta Boda and acting CEO as from July 2011.     Accounting irregularities in one of New Wave Groups German subsidiaries

    Due to financial irregularities and wrong accounting of assets and liabilities in one of New Wave Group’s German subsidiaries, the group’s operating profit will be negatively affected by some MSEK 23,5, and will be reported as an item affecting comparability in the interim report that will be presented the 12 august. The internal investigation shows that the irregularities have been ongoing for three years. As a consequence of this, the subsidiary’s CEO and CFO has left the company.     NEW WAVE GROUP TO ACQUIRE AHEAD

    New Wave Group AB (NEWAb.ST) has entered into an agreement to acquire substantially all of the assets of the US based headwear company, Ahead, for a sum of USD 17.4m in addition to a net asset value adjustment of approximately USD 5m. The acquisition will be included in a newly formed subsidiary within New Wave USA Inc. During 2010, Ahead reported sales of close to USD 32m with an operating profit (EBIT) of approximately USD 2.7m.
