MEXICO CITY – October 29, 2013 – Mexico City is pleased to announce the first city-to-city partnership with NYC & Company, New York City’s official marketing, tourism and partnership organization, which will increase tourism between the two destinations.  The event took place today at Mexico City’s Palace Hall where the City’s Mayor Miguel Ángel Mancera, the CEO of NYC & Company George Fertitta and the Director of the Mexico City Tourism Fund Armando Lopez Cardenas signed the year-long agreement. With the objective to continue increasing tourist arrivals from both destinations, the partnership encompasses numerous integrated marketing initiatives that will be mutually beneficial and further expose the cities within each other.

“This is a significant element of our tourism program that will elevate Mexico City as an attractive destination in a very important market,” explains Mayor Miguel Ángel Mancera. “We are very proud to be one of the few cities in the world to have such an exclusive agreement with NYC & Company,” he adds. Mexico City follows other world-class cities with such agreements with NYC & Company including Amsterdam, Madrid, London and Sao Paolo.

The partnership will increase exposure of both destinations in each City by showcasing their unique tourism offerings through various integrated marketing programs such as an exchange of outdoor media space. The cities will also share their best marketing and tourism practices.

“Mexico City and New York City both offer visitors an extraordinary range of attractions. We are aware of how tourism plays a vital role in the prosperity of each economy and this agreement will help achieve this,” said Mayor Mancera.

The United States remains Mexico City’s number one market for international visitors. The Mexico City Tourism Board anticipates this number to increase in 2014.

Aeromexico, Mexico’s global airline, supports the effort with a new special rate of $399 for their New York City - Mexico City route.
