Global Media and Journalist resource NewsCertified Exchange will present its groundbreaking conference series Influencing the Headlines: Empowering Women in Media in Silicon Valley on May 6, 2011.  The event will connect audiences with top media talents and thought leaders across several industries in an intimate setting, one-day only.

Atlanta, Georgia (NEWSWIRE) April 21, 2011 – NewsCertified Exchange is bringing its branded conference event “Influencing the Headlines: Empowering Women in Media” to Silicon Valley May 6, 2011.  Having already met with critical acclaim in New York City and Chicago, the one-day event will present opportunities for attendees to connect with top media personalities and talents in an intimate setting.

Citing reports from The Economist and the Global Media Monitoring Project that say “although women now comprise roughly half of American workers and earn nearly 60% of university degrees, only 24% of the people heard or read about in print, radio, and television news are female,” NewsCertified created Influencing the Headlines to enhance media exposure for women.

A world-class panel will address the topic of Empowering Women for Global Media, while a networking luncheon provides opportunities for attendees to connect with thought leaders from other disciplines.  Featured talents and panelists for the Silicon Valley event include Chris Boskin (former chair and current board member for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting); Leah Garchick (Daily Columnist, San Francisco Chronicle); Jillian Manus (President of Manus Media & Literary Agency and Broad Strategy LLC); ABC7 News Anchor Carolyn Tyler; ABC News, San Francisco, Correspondent Laura Marquez; Mary Lou Song (Chief Product Officer at Ongo, Inc.).

New York Public Radio Special Correspondent Femi Oke explained, “Influencing the Headlines brings together a panel of high-achieving women in the media and talented female leaders.  In an enthusiastic session, the group brainstorms, shares skills and passes on their experiences.”

A key component to the day’s events is the sought-after NCE Executive Media Workshop, led by the co-founder of CNN en Español, award-winning broadcast journalist Christopher Crommett. Both strategic and practical, the Workshop provides insights & tools to help participants engage successfully with the news media, while enhancing their personal brand.  The workshop is offered immediately before and after the panel discussion/luncheon.

The one-day conference, which begins at 8:00 am, will be held at the Silicon Valley Office of law firm Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe.  Registration for the event’s Panel Discussion, Networking Luncheon, and Executive Media Skills Workshop is currently available via the Influencing the Headlines website.  Seating is limited.
