Nexam’s patent application relating to the crosslinker PETA will be approved in Europe
Nexam has received a notice of allowance from the European Patent Office (EPO) stating that it intends to grant Nexam’s European patent application relating to the crosslinker PETA.
PETA, a completely new molecule developed by Nexam, crosslinks polymer chains in different plastics via heat-activation. Examples of plastics include polyimides, nylons and polyesters.
Currently PETA is being evaluated and tested in projects by more than 15 potential customers, whereof several are world-leading in their respective areas. Evaluations are done in e.g.:
- Electronics applications
- Efficiency improvements in production processes for polyimides
- Improvements of thermoplastics temperature resistance and longevity
