NEXT Biometrics launches high quality fingerprint sensor device with USB interface
The NB3010-U, a ready-to-use fingerprint sensor with USB interface is now lauched by NEXT Biometrics. The high quality sensor ensures reliable operation and convenient user experience while being affordable.

NEXT Biometrics releases the sensor partly as a reference design for industrial users to experience the high quality of this large sensor, and partly as a ready-to-use fingerprint sensor available through the NEXT website and distributors.
”Previous sensor offerings for notebooks and tablets have not resulted in a good user experience, as these were unrealiable and for the most part left unused, says NEXT Biometrics CEO Tore Etholm-Idsøe. To bring cost down, the sensor area had to be small, resulting in a clearly insufficient and often useless feature.
”NEXT Biometrics is the first supplier being able to combine a proven and robust large sensor area, resulting in high quality and convenience, with a low price. Our sensor is tolerant against dirty, damaged, wet and cold fingers, and cannot be compared to other fingerprint sensors, says Etholm-Idsøe. ”The sensor is easy to use, just plug it into an USB connection and the user operation is intuitive.”
NEXT is a certified partner of Microsoft, and this turnkey solution is ready for Windows Biometric Framework using Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 operating systems. Support for other operating systems will be available for industrial customers on request.
Etholm-Idsøe points to several applications for the new sensor format, not only notebook and tablet logon. It is targeted at high end markets like file and folder encryption, e-commerce, password containers and virtual privat networks (VPN).
