South coast-based Castle Marinas Group has embarked on a new phase of expansion of their inland and coastal marinas portfolio

28 July 2010 – The historic Port Dinorwic (Y Felinheli), situated in a prime position in the Menai Strait, has been acquired by Castle Marinas Ltd becoming their eighth marina. With excellent road access and Snowdonia as a beautiful backdrop, this picturesque marina provides one of the safest and most secure places for mooring in the UK. Accessed through a lock, Dinorwic provides very sheltered berthing in what were the old slate docks or in the adjacent tidal basin. The marina has full facilities including fuelling and a boatyard complete with a 20 tonne crane. There is also boat storage space ashore and ample customer parking. A pub-restaurant is located in the marina with shops, other amenities and more pubs and restaurants in the adjacent village. Sam Bourne, Operations Director for Castle Marinas Ltd, comments, “We are delighted that Dinorwic Marina is now part of the Castle Marinas Group; its superb location offers berth holders excellent cruising potential including the north Wales coast, Anglesey, Isle of Man and the east coast of Ireland. “Castle Marinas will preserve the existing charm and character of this fine marina and will ensure that its well-deserved reputation for good customer service continues. “We wish to pay tribute to Ann and Rod Parry whose company have owned the Marina since October 1987 and have worked hard to develop it to its current high standard. Steve McWilliams and Myreta Parry, who currently manage the marina, will carry on with their responsibilities, working within the Castle Marinas Group”. Castle owns five inland and two coastal marinas which include Birdham Pool in Chichester Harbour and Royal Clarence at Gosport in Portsmouth Harbour. The acquisition of Dinorwic marina marks a new phase of growth for Castle Marinas who plan to expand the group both inland and on the coast over the next few years.
