Recognition for hardworking young apprentices at the recent North West Training Awards

8 March 2010 - The North West Region Training Group recently presented their annual training awards to some very hardworking trainees and young apprentices. The awards, facilitated by the Heating and Ventilating Contractors’ Association (HVCA), were presented at HVCA North West’s annual dinner, and on this occasion hosted by regional chairman George Jackson at Bolton’s Reebok Stadium, with over 220 members and guests in attendance. HVCA President Graham Manly presented the 10 awards assisted by Brian Townsend, past President of the North West Training Group. Graham Manly praised the trainees on their achievements whilst paying tribute to the vital role played by their employers and colleges. He also emphasised just how important vocational education and training is to the North West region. Wishing the trainees well for the future, he said that they all had promising careers ahead of them, in a strong and vibrant industry. The award winners were: Domestic Heating Engineer of the Year Award to Jamie Johnston of Kinetics Ltd and Liverpool Community College. Engineering Technician of the Year Award to Daniel Young of AECOM and Liverpool Community College. Adult Existing Worker of the Year Award to Ryan Gilligan of Emcor UK Ltd and Cheshire Salford College. Heating and Ventilation Industrial & Commercial Craftsperson of the Year Award to Nicholas Lester of SES Ltd H & V Installer of the Year Award to Luke Robinson of Kimptons Ltd and Liverpool Community College. Incorporated Engineer of the Year Award to Gemma Scott of The Smith Group Ltd and Liverpool Community College. Ventilation Ductwork Installer of the Year Award to James O’Connor of Ameon Ltd and Salford College Service & Maintenance Engineer of the Year Award to Westley Collins of Cofely Suez Ltd Plumber of the Year Award to John Walsh of T W Beavon & Son Ltd and Liverpool Community College. Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineer Award to Graham Thomson of Tudor Group NW Ltd and Liverpool Community College.
