HELP FOR ORGANISATIONS FACING UNPRECEDENTED ENERGY COSTS

Report this content

Organisations in the public sector will not escape the coming round of energy price rises as they look set to peak at historically high levels.  Combined with the ongoing pressure to reduce our carbon footprint, it makes sense to seek expert advice and members of the lead trade association for heating and ventilating contractors in the UK are ideally positioned to provide this.

8 July 2011 – With more and more organisations in the public sector having control over their own expenditure budget and overall financial autonomy, a real concern is the increasing burden that energy costs present. Nor will organisations in the public sector escape the next round of energy price rises as they look set to reach historically high levels. So with financial resources already under pressure, there is a huge incentive to cut energy costs. Combined with the need to reduce our carbon footprint, it makes sense to call in professional help.

The Heating and Ventilating Contractors’ Association (HVCA) has over 1500 member firms that are experts in the field of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration. HVCA Deputy Chief Executive, Rod Pettigrew, says they are well placed to help organisations in the public sector cut their energy bills: “It’s usually the case that our members are called in when the heating or air conditioning fails or when it is time to upgrade all or part of their mechanical and electrical systems.

“What they might not realise is that HVCA members are ideally positioned to give impartial, expert advice on ways to improve energy efficiency, cut energy costs and reduce carbon footprint. In almost all circumstances they will be able to identify potential savings.

“Increasingly HVCA members are now able to offer solutions for energy saving, using better system controls to minimise energy wastage, the installation of renewable sources of energy such as solar pv, solar thermal, ground and air source heat pumps, biofuels; ways that will help organisations and establishments in the public sector to cut their energy bills through improved energy efficiency whilst lowering their carbon footprint”.

To help organisations find their nearest HVCA members the Association has an easy to use ‘Locate an HVCA Contractor’ search facility on its website at: www.hvca.org.uk.

Notes to Editors

Established in 1904, the HVCA is the premier organisation representing central heating contractors across the UK, and exists to promote fair dealing and the sound installation of heating systems.  HVCA members all undergo third-party inspection and assessment of their technical competence and commercial capability every three years.  This process is carried out by an independent certification body with an established industry reputation.  HVCA members who undertake gas installations are registered with Gas Safe – the gas safety watchdog body – and are also members of TrustMark, the Government-endorsed scheme designed to direct customers towards reliable tradespeople.  HVCA operates the Heating Helpline (http://www.heatinghelpline.org.uk) to provide consumers with free, impartial advice on every aspect of home heating.
