Tom McManus has been appointed to the staff of the Building & Engineering Services Association as national executive for Scotland and Northern Ireland, in succession to Bob Dyer, who has retired from B&ES after 25 years’ service.

29 September 2015 – A technology graduate from the Open University with a Higher National Certificate in both mechanical engineering and business communications, Mr MacManus takes up his new role following four years as Scottish general manager of the Association’s subsidiary Building Engineering Services Training (BEST).

His experience also includes 14 years at Telford College of Arts and Technology, Edinburgh, where he progressed to the position of assistant principal.

The Association’s operations in Scotland and Northern Ireland are further strengthened by the promotion of Zanna Tweedie to the new position of assistant national executive.

“Tom’s sound background in engineering, management and training in a building services environment, along with the knowledge of the Association and its members which Zanna has acquired during almost 20 years with B&ES, add up to a very strong and experienced team that will further consolidate our already solid presence in Scotland and Northern Ireland,” head of regional management Tim Acland explained.

Mr McManus commented, “I am delighted to be joining B&ES at this time.

“My years with BEST have made me well aware of the challenges facing the industry today, and I welcome the opportunity to work with the membership and my colleagues across B&ES and the sector in order to address them.”

Ms Tweedie confirmed that she was thrilled to have the opportunity to progress her career within B&ES.

Working alongside Bob Dyer has involved me in many aspects of the Association’s activities in Scotland and Northern Ireland – and I look forward to continuing to collaborate with colleagues, members and other organisations for the benefit of the sector as a whole.
