NEW NAME FOR THE ORGANISATION BEHIND THE HEATING HELPLINE
6 March 2012 – The organisation behind the Heating Helpline has changed its name. On 1 March 2012, the Heating and Ventilating Contractors’ Association (HVCA), first established in 1904, rebranded and became B&ES, the Building & Engineering Services Association.
Blane Judd, Chief Executive of B&ES, comments, “Our Association is 107 years old this year and although it hasn’t always been known as the HVCA, it is under this banner that it became the highly regarded organisation it is today. But the time had come to update the Association’s identity because the scope of the Association and the business activities of its members are now much wider than heating and ventilating; most members no longer describe themselves as ‘heating and ventilating contractors’ but providers of a wide range of building and engineering services and renewable technologies”.
B&ES launched the Heating Helpline service in 2009 and it’s become a hugely popular source of free, expert, impartial advice and guidance on all aspects of energy efficient home heating. The website http://www.heatinghelpline.org.uk is packed with really invaluable information including dozens of tips on how to reduce household energy bills. There is also an easy-to-use search facility on the website to find your nearest B&ES heating engineer. And the Heating Helpline is not just a website – they have a team of experts that can answer your questions and give you advice – simply call them (free) on 0800 840 4069.
Blane Judd adds, “In terms of the reputation and reliability of our members it’s worth bearing in mind that B&ES is still the only UK trade association that makes it compulsory for its members to undergo regular, third-party inspection and assessment of their technical competence and commercial capability, carried out by an independent certification body. B&ES members who undertake gas installations are all registered with Gas Safe – the gas safety watchdog body – and are also members of TrustMark, the Government-endorsed scheme designed to direct customers towards reliable tradespeople.
