SeaSafe have entered into a JV with Norwegian company Restech Norway AS which will see the Cowes based company manufacture the main inflatable component for Restech’s highly innovative Rescue Buoy that is now sold throughout the world

6 May 2010 - SeaSafe Systems™, the Cowes based manufacturer of marine safety clothing and equipment, have entered into a joint venture with Norwegian firm Restech Norway AS. Restech manufacture and market the highly innovative Rescue Buoy MOB device. SeaSafe will manufacture the core inflatable part – the buoy. Although the product is relatively new, Restech have gained significant sales for the Rescue Buoy using their established sales channels throughout the world. The Rescue Buoy has been widely adopted by shipping fleets, rescue services, commercial fishing vessels, military navies, ferry and cruise operators, oil and gas rigs and many other users. What makes this horseshoe-shaped buoy different is that the line thrower is a pneumatic launcher which uses compressed air as a propellant. It is therefore easily refilled and being non-explosive is totally safe for use in hazardous environments – and with no expiry dates to worry about it also makes the product more reliable and far more cost-effective over time. The primary benefit of the product is that it can be used to launch a line and life saving device to an otherwise unreachable person. The Rescue Buoy will automatically inflate within two seconds after hitting the water. All parts are re-useable and it is possible to re-pack the Rescue Buoy for repeated use. Three options are available – a hand held thrower and two sizes of pneumatic thrower (small and large). Even the smaller size will throw the Rescue Buoy up to 90 meters distance. Commenting on this joint venture, David Price, Business Development Manager of SeaSafe Systems, said, “We are delighted to have been appointed a manufacturing partner for Restech Norway AS. The Rescue Buoy is arguably a “must have” MOB safety device, having so many benefits over other line throwing devices. With worldwide sales gathering pace, we look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with Restech.
