Signbox make statement of intent with new six figure capital investment

20 June 2013 – With the UK experiencing the longest and most severe recession in the post-war era it’s unusual to hear of any company making a substantial capital investment.  So it’s welcome news that Signbox are making a statement of intent with a six-figure expenditure on a brand new Durst Omega 2 LED UV industrial inkjet.  Purchased from London-based Perfect Colours – the specialist distributor of large format print equipment – Signbox are signing the contract for the new machine on the Perfect Colours stand at FESPA, the dedicated exhibition for wide format printing held at London's ExCeL from 25-29 June 2013.

The Omega 2 is truly next generation large format print technology and marks a significant step forward from the Omega 1 Signbox purchased two years ago.  The new model retains Omega 1’s capability to print at industry-leading 1728 dpi fine art quality but with a wider colour gamut such as grey, light magenta and light cyan.  The Omega 2 can print on virtually any material with the same superb print quality and offers a 65% power saving over conventional UV bulb technology.  Undoubtedly the key benefit of the new Omega is its ink drying method which uses UV-LED technology to make it possible to print on heat sensitive materials and colours.

Commenting on their major investment, Mark Bartlett, Managing Director of Signbox, said, “Since we took delivery of the Omega 1 in July 2011 it has been in constant use, keeping up with the level of demand we now have for large format printing, especially digital wallpaper.  Our Environmental Graphics Division is fundamental to our future growth strategy and this investment in the new Omega 2 demonstrates that, despite an ongoing challenging economic climate, we are determined to stay at the forefront of the UK sign industry.

“And by taking advantage of the latest UV-LED curing technology we are now ideally placed to offer clients a truly sustainable product meeting Green Guard ink certification.”
