Signbox take forward direction with new print technology
Despite the recession Signbox continue to invest, with six-figure expenditure in new plant the latest hard evidence of their commitment to stay at the forefront of the UK sign making industry.
10 June 2011 – With a long track record of innovation and renowned for staying one step ahead of their competitors, Signbox are just taking delivery of cutting edge print technology – manufactured by the Italian firm of Durst Phototechnik AG, it’s the first machine of its kind in the UK. This six-figure investment paves the way for Signbox to produce signs and large format graphics at production levels in-house at their 1522 m² facility in Egham, Surrey and importantly will mean that they will be highly competitive on price for a wide range of digitally printed media – not just exterior and interior signs.
Sold exclusively in the UK by Spandex, the Durst Omega 1 print technology redefines the industrial inkjet standard for sign makers with its ability to print fine art quality at high volume throughput levels. Commenting on this new investment, Mark Bartlett, Managing Director of Signbox, said, “Durst are a highly respected manufacturer of large format printing technology, and we are delighted to be the first UK customer for their new Omega 1 UV printer.
“The new machine allows us to bring virtually all of our printing requirements in-house – we can now print at high resolution, up to 1728 dpi, direct to substrate, onto virtually any material such as metal, glass, acrylic, vinyl, wood and composite board; we intend to run the machine 24 hours a day, giving us a winning combination of fine art quality printing at highly competitive prices.
