Press release from Telio

Oslo, 25 May 2011

Telio has entered into a wholesale agreement for mobile IP telephony services with Call Norwegian. Call Norwegian is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA, a Scandinavian low fare airline.

Norwegian is the first airline to introduce internet onboard the company’s flights in Europe and will through this agreement with Telio provide mobile IP telephony services to its passengers in Norway and abroad. The services are based on Telio’s highly recognized technology platform which provides a high user experience with HD sound and high quality video communication.

Last year, Norwegian had 13 million passengers and is thereby the third largest low fare airline in Europe. Passengers can use the mobile IP telephony services in airports, Norwegian’s WiFi zones, other available WiFi zones and 3-4G networks.

Norwegian has searched the market to find a partner to provide IP telephony services. Telio has with its highly recognized technological platform and innovative ”over the top” services fulfilled Norwegian’s demands and needs. The services are planned to be available for Norwegian’s customers from September 2011.

“We are very pleased to announce this agreement. Norwegian is the first European airline to introduce internet onboard their planes. This agreement demonstrates that they see the value in providing “over the top” services to their customers. The agreement is an acknowledgment of Telio’s technological platform and shows the opportunities for wholesale of Telio’s services. It is also an important step forward to expand distribution and the use of IP telephony in a new and exciting way,” says CEO Eirik Lunde in Telio Holding ASA.
