BBS (Banking and Business Solutions) has expanded its Nordic authentication services significantly with the inclusion of all major Swedish electronic-IDs - Swedish BankID, TeliaSonera ID and Nordea e-legitimation. To implement the Swedish e-IDs in the authentication service, BBS has chosen Nexus as its partner. BBS’ Nordic Authentication offering will be subsequently enhanced with other e-IDs in the Nordic region.

Supporting the dominant Nordic electronic e-IDs is a natural consequence of an increasingly international market that BBS is addressing. BBS’ Nordic authentication services allows businesses to use policy based strong authentication and signing capabilities for cross-border e-business. BBS’ Nordic authentication service simultaneously supports wide range of authentication platforms, based on One-Time-Password as well as Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).

Such a Nordic Integration layer removes the complexity normally associated by businesses in implementing e-IDs. Offered as a managed service, the Nordic authentication solution will re-use BBS’ best practices from 35 years of operating national critical financial services.

- The main issue for merchants utilising electronic IDs, is to minimise the cost and complexity, while offering them the required functionality with a high quality, security and service levels. With one of the widest sets of e-ID services in Europe, BBS offering to the merchants is greatly strengthened with this latest enhancement, says Business Manager Espen Hytta at BBS.

BBS has chosen Nexus as its partner for implementing the Swedish e-IDs. The partner choice was made due to Nexus’ long-standing experience and proven track record in security solutions in the Nordics and Europe.

- Nexus products in BBS services represent an interesting constellation where all parties are benefiting from expanding their geographic markets, including the National electronic ID schemes. The BBS-project has been a positive experience, and we believe more areas of cooperation may materialise onwards, says Patrik Svanström, acting Managing Director, Technology Nexus Secured Business Solutions AB.
