Scandinavian low-cost carrier has signed up to Amadeus’ Full Content Option

Madrid, Spain, 11. February, 2005: Amadeus, the leading technology provider to the travel and tourism industry and global distribution system (GDS), today announced that Norwegian Air Shuttle has signed up to its Full Content Option. According to the agreement, Norwegian Air Shuttle will supply its lowest fares to the GDS in return for a fee per booking made on domestic or inter-regional itineraries. The Full Content Option was launched on 30 November 2004 as part of Amadeus’ pioneering drive to create a distribution pricing model based on the value that we deliver to airlines. The option specifically recognises that low-cost content is essential to travel agents and their clients. Under the agreement, participating airlines provide Amadeus subscribers and airline ticket offices with all schedules, fares, last seat availability and associated inventory for distribution through all channels. Norwegian Air Shuttle, whose goal is to provide “affordable fares for everyone” is a fast-growing, low-cost airline which carries over two million passengers a year to destinations around Europe. David Doctor, Amadeus Director, Airline Marketing & Sales, Airline Business Group, says, “Norwegian Air Shuttle is a key low-cost carrier for the Scandinavian market. This and similar agreements with Malmo Aviation and Wideroe demonstrate our commitment to delivering essential, low-fare content to our travel agencies.” Across Europe, Middle East and Africa, a total of 37 carriers have signed up to the Full Content Option since it was announced last November. Carriers in these regions have until 31 March 2005 to sign up to this option.
