IT-outsourcing: Capgemini inngår storavtale med British Energy

OSLO, 10. mars 2005: Capgemini har inngått en femårs IT-outsourcingsavtale med Storbritannias største kraftprodusent, British Energy. Avtalen har en økonomisk ramme på om lag 240 millioner kroner.

Avtalen innebærer at Capgemini skal støtte cirka 6.500 brukere og mer enn 300 servere ved British Energys kraftstasjoner og kontorer i hele Storbritannia. I tillegg omfatter også avtalen applikasjonsforvaltning av flere kjernesystemer i British Energy, inkludert finans, HR og dokumenthåndteringssystemer. I henhold til kontrakten blir 28 ansatte i British Energy overført til Capgemini. Capgemini vant kontrakten i konkurranse med fire andre multinasjonale IT-konsulentselskaper. Se nedenfor for fullstendig engelsk presseinformasjon: Capgemini UK plc (“Capgemini”) has won a five-year £20 million IT outsourcing contract from British Energy, the UK’s largest producer of electricity. Under the new contract Capgemini will support approximately 6,500 users and over 300 servers at British Energy power stations and offices throughout the UK. The new service also includes the provision of applications management services for several core systems at British Energy including finance, human resources and document management. The contract involves the transfer of 28 British Energy staff and contractors to Capgemini. British Energy chose Capgemini in preference to shortlisted bids from four other leading multinationals because it combined the best technical solution with good value for money. Another very important factor was Capgemini’s ability, through its strong presence in Scotland, to offer good career prospects for the staff transferring. Other factors included its high quality of delivery over the last three years in other areas of IT support, and its excellent facilities close to British Energy sites. Capgemini worked with British Energy to satisfy the Office of Civil Nuclear Sites and the National Nuclear Inspectorate to ensure regulatory compliance. Andrew Ralston, Information Management Manager (Projects and Services) of British Energy, said: ‘Capgemini has already proved its ability to innovate to good effect and to enhance quality of service while at the same time driving down costs. Under the new contract we are looking to spread these same benefits to other parts of our crucial IT support function.’ The applications management part of the new contract will be based at Capgemini’s Scottish HQ in Glasgow, while desktop and server support will be run from Capgemini offices in Inverness and Birmingham. Capgemini will also deploy staff at British Energy locations in Scotland to provide close support to local staff including a number of home workers in the Scottish Lowlands. Technology platforms include Oracle Financials and HR, Windows NT 4.0 Servers and NT Workstations moving to Windows XP and Windows 2003 Server, SMS, BMC Patrol and Compaq Insight Manager.
