Muliggjør utrullingen av automatiske strømmålere selv i geografisk utfordrende områder
(Oslo, 4.oktober 2011) - ice.net lanserer sammen med Landis+Gyr og Xemex en ny kommunikasjonsløsning for implementering av automatisk måleravlesning (AMS) i Norge med utgangspunkt i vår krevende geografi.
Den ledende energiløsningsleverandøren Landis+Gyr, det skandinaviske telekomselskapet ice.net og AMS-kommunikasjonsleverandøren Xemex har samlet sin internasjonale erfaring med radioteknologien Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) i frekvensområdet 450 MHz, og skapt en kommunikasjonsløsning for AMS tilpasset det norske og skandinaviske markedet. Den nye løsningen skal hjelpe energiselskapene å kommunisere med sine smarte strømmålere, uavhengig av målernes geografiske plassering. Resultatet er en kommunikasjonsløsning som dekker både kyststrøk, fjellandskap og landlige områder så vel som byer og urbane strøk i Norge. Løsningen vil presenteres og demonstreres på Metering Europe 2011 i Amsterdam, Europas største messe innenfor AMS
Norske myndigheter vedtok i juli 2011 at alle norske husholdninger skal være utstyrt med smarte strømmålere innen 1. januar 2017. AMS skal forenkle og forbedre prosessen med å lese av strømforbruket ved at forbrukeren slipper å gjøre det selv. På bakgrunn av dette, er energiselskapene i full gang med å kartlegge løsninger, blant annet på kommunikasjonssiden, for å innfri dette kravet.
CDMA450 er en radioteknologi basert på den globale CDMA standarden for mobilkommunikasjon, og brukes i dag av mer enn 575 millioner sluttbrukere globalt. Teknologien er basert på 450 MHz mobilt bredbåndsnett, og gir høy og pålitelig innendørs dekning samt en mer avansert krypteringskapasitet enn GPRS. Ice.net er operatør av CDMA450 nettverket i Norge, Sverige og Danmark, og har etablert et eget tilbud for maskin-til-maskin tjenester (M2M).

New communication solution to facilitate smart meter deployment in geographically ‘challenging’ Scandinavian markets
Landis+Gyr, ice.net and Xemex launch a joint communication offering to the Nordic markets based on the radio technology Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) 450. The solution will be showcased at Metering Europe 2011 in Amsterdam from 4-6 October 2011.
Zug, Switzerland, Oslo, Norway, and Schoten, Belgium, October 4, 2011 – The leading global energy management solutions provider, Landis+Gyr, Nordic telecom operator ice.net and smart metering communication hub specialist Xemex have bundled their international experience gained with CDMA450 and are launching it in the Norwegian and Scandinavian markets. The result is a solution that covers rural, coastal and mountainous areas in addition to the urban metropolis of the region’s cities.
In July 2011, the Norwegian government passed legislation that Norway must complete the mandatory rollout of smart meters by January 1st, 2017. As a result, utilities are currently facing the complicated task of identifying installation, logistics, and technologies that will fulfil the smart metering requirements. The new solution helps network companies communicate with their smart metering network regardless of the meter’s physical location.
CDMA450 is a radio technology based on the global CDMA standard for mobile communication and is currently in use by 575 million end-users worldwide.
