Nobel Biocare signs exclusive distribution agreement with W.L.Gore & Associates concerning dental membranes Nobel Biocare has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with the American company, W.L Gore & Associates concerning global sales of dental membrane products, so-called tissue regenerating membranes. Gore is the world-leader in membranes and other products for so-called guided tissue regeneration. Membranes are used in areas where there is not enough bone. As well as for dental implants, the products are used to treat bone loss around teeth and to improve normal dental function and esthetics. "This agreement is well in line with Nobel Biocare's strategy to use our global distribution strength to market and sell special dental products with a high margin. Membrane products are a natural complement to the implant business and thereby strengthen Nobel Biocare's customer offer. We also intend to start cooperation with Gore to jointly develop the next generation of membrane products", says Jack Forsgren, President and CEO of Nobel Biocare. The current market for dental membrane products amounts to approx. 40 million USD per annum, of which Gore represents approx. 30%. The distribution agreement takes effect from June 1, 2000 and means that Nobel Biocare's turnover will increase by approx. 100 MSEK per annum.
