Aung San Suu Kyi, awarded the 1991 Nobel Peace Prize for her non-violent struggle for democracy and human rights, is coming to Oslo, Norway, to deliver her Nobel Lecture on Saturday, June 16, 2012, 1:00 pm CET. The lecture will be webcast live on Nobelprize.org, the official web site of the Nobel Prize.

It has been nearly 21 years ago since Aung San Suu Kyi was awarded the 1991 Nobel Peace Prize. At the time, she was under house arrest and unable to collect the Nobel Peace Prize in Norway. In her absence, her son Alexander Aris, delivered an acceptance speech (http://bit.ly/KSUaff) on behalf of his mother and on behalf of the people of Burma. Now, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi has the ability to travel outside of Burma (now called Myanmar) and one of the stops during her European tour is Oslo.

On Nobelprize.org, you can watch the live webcast of Aung San Suu Kyi’s Nobel Lecture as she delivers it to an invited audience at the Oslo City Hall, Norway, or you can embed the live video player (http://bit.ly/MDSSQi ) and watch the Nobel Lecture on your own website or blog.
