Doris Lessing’s attendance during Nobel Week in Stockholm cancelled

The Nobel Foundation hereby announces that Doris Lessing, the 2007 Nobel Laureate in Literature, will unfortunately not attend any of the events during the Nobel Week. Doris Lessing has been ill for some time but had very much hoped to be able to come to Stockholm. Unfortunately her medical advisors have said that she must not travel.

Doris Lessing’s pre-recorded Nobel Lecture is therefore planned to be presented on a big screen at the Swedish Academy on 7 December at 5:30 p.m.

The prize insignias, the Nobel medal and Nobel diploma, will be presented to Doris Lessing in London.
