Skånetrafiken has awarded Nobina a renewed agreement to operate and develop regional and rural traffic services in Lund. The total value of the contract is almost SEK 1.6 billion over an eight-year term, with an option to extend for two additional years. The new contract is scheduled to start the first services in December 2021, and additional traffic will be added in December 2022.

Nobina promises always to offer passengers travel that is welcoming, safe and sustainable. The contract places high demands on security and all vehicles are fitted with security cameras and collision warning systems, among many other features. Passenger comfort has also been a priority in the form of Wi-Fi, a well lit interior and low entry steps. Throughout the contract period, brand-new double-deckers with quiet sections will be introduced and new electric-powered buses will be introduced in 2024.

“We are very proud to both continue and develop our well-established collaboration with Skånetrafiken. Together, we will be able to continue to offer passengers a state-of-the-art public transport system,” says Henrik Dagnäs, MD, Nobina Sweden.

Services due to start in December 2021 include 44 scheduled buses and will expand with an additional 55 buses in the traffic start-up in December 2022.

The award decision can be appealed until 21 December 2020.
