Nobina wins major contract in central Gothenburg
Nobina has been awarded a new contract by Västtrafik to operate and develop parts of its city transport services in central Gothenburg in addition to services in the neighbouring Angered and surrounding areas. The contract entails an extension of the collaboration with Västtrafik and has a total value of just over SEK 2.1 billion over the ten-year contract period.
Nobina already has several traffic contracts with Västtrafik and the new contract will extend the collaboration and significantly expand services. In total, the contract will encompass approximately 80 scheduled buses, of which the absolute majority will be brand-new electric buses. The city transport services are scheduled to start in June 2022, followed by the start-up of traffic in the surrounding area in June 2023.
Nobina’s promise is to always offer passengers travel that is welcoming, safe and sustainable. All vehicles will feature low entry steps, Wi-Fi and USB sockets and be equipped with security cameras. In addition, all city transport will operate solely on electricity.
“We are very pleased with this new contract awarded to us by Västtrafik and that it wants to continue working with us to develop attractive and sustainable public transport,” says Henrik Dagnäs, Managing Director of Nobina Sweden.
The award decision can be appealed until 26 April 2021.
