Nobina wins tender in Tromsø – worth NOK 1.6 billion

Nobina Norge AS has won the tender concerning city and regional public bus transport in Tromsø, Norway. The total contract is worth approximately NOK 1.6 billion, and an additional incentive-based compensation. The contract comprises of 115 buses, out of which 30 are new hybrid buses. Traffic operations will start in February 2012.

The value of the new contract amounts to approximately MNOK 180 in revenue annually over a period of six years from traffic operations start in February 2012, with three yearly optional extensions. The contract is based mainly on fixed compensation but also includes an incentive-based part based on e.g. number of passengers and punctuality in traffic delivery. The tender outcome can be appealed until June 7 2011.

The contract in Tromsø includes city traffic as well as longer regional traffic lines. The contract involves a substantial renewal of the bus fleet with a stronger environmental profile where 100 out of 115 buses will be new. Out of these, 30 are hybrid buses and the contract includes an option to exchange a further 30 buses to gas driven buses after the initial traffic period.
