Nobina has again been entrusted by Ruter to provide bus services in Oslo. The decision to exercise the extension option also enables an investment in electric buses and a transition to fossil-free fuels. The Oslo Vest and L25 contracts are being extended by two and a half and three years, respectively, until April 2022 and 2023. The total value of the extension is estimated at approximately NOK 800 million. The total contract involves 92 scheduled buses, of which 20 are electric articulated buses.

The transition to electric articulated buses in Oslo Vest will take place gradually in 2019. During the period, a switch to fossil-free fuel will also be undertaken with the aim of further reducing carbon dioxide emissions. The initiative is part of Ruter’s ambition to work together with operators to achieve fossil-free and emission-free public transport as well as better air quality.

“Nobina is both proud and pleased that Ruter has once again entrusted us to carry out this assignment and to continue our collaboration. At the same time, this allows us to contribute new environmentally friendly solutions and technology to the Oslo region, where we are one of the first operators in Norway to establish electric bus services on a broader scale,” says Magnus Rosén, CEO and President of Nobina.
