New sizes for trailer tires – more off-road grip and economical kilometers, more peace of mind

Nokian Heavy Tyres, Nokia, Finland, 2 May 2019 – The trailer tire is a critical factor in safe, controlled truck handling. Nokian Tyres has increased the available trailer tire sizes in both Nokian R-Truck and Nokian E-Truck tire families, making them suitable for broader range of trailers.

Nokian R-Truck – The road ends, the grip stays

Launched in 2018, the Nokian R-Truck tire series was designed with the demands of on and off-road driving in mind. Featuring a tire for every axle position, the Nokian R-Truck series tires are equally at home on highways as well as on muddy forest roads and rocky earthmoving sites.

“The Nokian R-Truck tire line strikes an excellent compromise between the two different worlds”, says Teppo Siltanen, Product Manager at Nokian Tyres. “They all have an open pattern and wide grooves that ensure good self-cleaning on soft surfaces such as mud, sand and snow, offering grip and reliability around the year.”

Available from the summer of 2019, the new Nokian R-Truck Trailer sizes 265/70R19.5 and 275/70R22.5 are ideal for demanding on and off-road timber trailer use. They also suit well for all trailer use that calls for good tire self-cleaning and grip.

“An important reliability factor is the stone ejectors in the main grooves, reducing the risk of tire damage”, Teppo Siltanen points out. “What’s more, all the tires have the 3PMSF approval, enabling good performance both on snowy roads and hot tarmac.”

Nokian E-Truck – Economical all-season kilometers

The Nokian E-Truck tire series is aimed at European professional drivers that cover a lot of distance around the year. Quiet, safe and comfortable to drive, the Nokian E-Truck series has a tire for every axle position – including Nokian E-Truck Trailer for trailer use.

“These all-season trailer tires are optimized for medium and regional haul in regular road conditions”, explains Teppo Siltanen. “They are perfectly balanced to work well in Central Europe as well as on Nordic main roads, as they have the 3PMSF marking.”

Designed for economical kilometers, Nokian E-Truck tires boast a low rolling resistance as well as sturdy carcass that makes them suitable for retreading. The four new Nokian E-Truck Trailer tire sizes include 265/70R19.5 and 385/55R22.5 (available summer 2019) as well as 235/75R17.5 and 245/70R17.5 (available fall 2019)

“Nokian E-Truck Trailer tires have robust shoulders, even wear pattern and they are less prone to stone trapping”, Siltanen says. “That guarantees good mileage, while the tire’s zigzag-shaped grooves improve stability.”

Looking for peace of mind in all conditions

Nokian Tyres always develops its products with the end-user in mind – the driver. The Nokian R-Truck and Nokian E-Truck series of tires are designed for different demands, but they share the same basic idea: to answer the needs of transport professionals and help them in their daily work.

“With the tires you can count on, you can focus on the job at hand”, Siltanen sums it up. “That brings you peace of mind – every day.”
