Nokian Tyres published Corporate Sustainability Report

Nokian Tyres plc has published its GRI G4 compliant Corporate Sustainability Report, which is available at www.nokiantyres.com/company/sustainability.

The report describes the activities of Nokian Tyres from the perspective of environmental, social and economic responsibility as part of an international value chain.

– Last year was a period of significant international events in our key markets. In addition to the developments in Ukraine, the devaluation of the rouble and the decline in oil prices affected our business through the Russian economy. Ensuring the well-being of our personnel has been especially important for us now that the political situation is affecting their everyday lives. At the end of the year, we became a member of the IRSG (International Rubber Study Group). This is a significant development for us, as there is a growing interest in the origin of products and natural rubber forms a challenge in terms of sustainable tyre production. Our membership in this global platform for rubber producers and consumers enables us to contribute to the sustainable development of rubber production in the future, says Ari Lehtoranta, President and CEO of Nokian Tyres.

Safe products and product development form one of the cornerstones of sustainability in Nokian Tyres. Based on continuous improvement, we produce safer and eco-friendlier tyres that help people drive reliably and comfortably even under demanding conditions. For example, last year we introduced the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2, the most energy-efficient winter tyre in the world. Designed for electric and hybrid cars, the new Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 is a winter tyre that combines excellent winter grip with low rolling resistance, which extends the vehicle’s range and reduces emissions. Furthermore, we are continuously developing our production methods for improving quality and productivity and for minimising our carbon footprint.
