The new Nokian Snowproof C is a safe and reliable winter tire specially developed for professional and heavy-duty use. The tire’s most important characteristics are superb winter safety, comfort and durability. Designed to withstand load and wear as the kilometers add up, new Nokian Snowproof C offers excellent service life.
The Nokian Snowproof C is a new premium winter tire crafted to deliver peace of mind for Central European winter. The Nokian Snowproof C offers state-of-the-art safety for daily driving ensuring excellent winter grip on snow, slush and rain. Nokian Tyres’ Alpine Sense Grip concept masters all the wintry weather challenges ensuring that the driving feel is predictable and balanced.
According to Nokian Tyres’ consumer survey*, almost 60% of drivers in Central Europe considered specialized winter tires as the most important car safety equipment during the winter months. Nearly 70% of respondents found the tire’s grip and handling in winter conditions as the most valuable characteristics, while stability, snow grip and wear resistance were also desirable features.
- Safety and balanced driving properties are always the starting points in our development philosophy. When designing new winter tires for transport professionals, special attention was paid to improve slush and wet grip while extending the service life and lowering the rolling resistance. In line with this philosophy, the new Nokian Snowproof C maximizes safety in all driving conditions and provides stability and control for professional and recreational use alike, says Mikko Liukkula, Development Manager at Nokian Tyres.
The new Nokian Snowproof C offers safety and stability in all winter conditions. The product range offers sizes for versatile professional and recreational use with a selection of 27 products from 14 to 17 inches, with speed ratings of R (170 km/h), T (190 km/h) and H (210 km/h). The product range will be available for consumers in autumn 2021.
Excellent winter grip and balanced driving feel
The new Nokian Snowproof C offers safety, durability and effortless driving from day to day. The Alpine Sense Grip concept used in the Nokian Snowproof C provides an exceptional combination of first-class grip on snowy, slushy, and wet roads while offering predictable and balanced driving experience. The concept consists of innovative features combining the tire's tread design, rubber compound and structure. The winter optimized tread pattern with tailored, aggressive siping and multiple edges offers grip and safety for varying winter conditions and makes handling balanced and easy to control even with heavy loads.
The Alpine Grip tread compound is tailored for Central European winter and performs well in a wide temperature range. It offers impressive snow and wet grip and excellent wear resistance. The strong, optimized C tire structure with Nokian Tyres’ patented Aramid Sidewall technology offers unique durability and improved wear life.
Safe, durable and fuel efficient
Van tires are specialty products designed for hard and versatile use. They need to have a firm structure and be sturdy enough to handle heavy loads and varying road conditions safely and reliably. The tailored construction of Nokian Snowproof C includes a very durable base layer with a thick steel belt package below the tread.
The durability of the new product is maximized thanks to Nokian Tyres’ unique Aramid Sidewall technology. The extremely strong aramid fibers strengthen the sidewalls providing more durability and protection for demanding driving situations. This technology protects the tire against impacts, cuts, and potholes. These features allow Nokian Snowproof C to endure heavy use and rugged road conditions.
When loads are high, rolling resistance can really affect the fuel bill. The rubber compound of the Nokian Snowproof C is optimized for heavy use, which allows it to work safely across a wide temperature range and to reduce rolling resistance. The low rolling resistance makes the Nokian Snowproof C a fuel-efficient option for drivers who want to keep their environmental footprints low while saving in fuel costs.
Excellent handling and stability
The varying winter weather means that a large part of winter driving in Central Europe will take place on rain-soaked or bare asphalt roads. The new, aggressive tread pattern gives the Nokian Snowproof C a balanced road contact and quick and predictable steering response. The tread comes with a stiff and connected middle area, which offers balanced handling and stability with heavy loads.
The slush and water channels in the middle of the tread are designed to maximize slushplaning and aquaplaning resistance. These channels store water and slush between the tire and the road and accelerate the flow away from the tire. Extra grip for snowy roads comes with Snow Claws, which are placed between the tread blocks provide balanced grip on ice and snow, particularly when braking and accelerating. The tailored, dense siping with special left/right sipes on the center blocks are designed to improve winter safety even further. The sipes are not cut through the entire tread block, which ensures the grip is firm while the bare road handling stays optimal.
Driving comfort is always a key element. The new tread pattern, computer optimized tread block sequence and structure of the new Nokian Snowproof C all aim to maximize comfort and pleasant sound levels.
Nokian Snowproof C – Peace of mind for wintry ways
- Safe and stable in all winter conditions, including snow and slush
- Excellent service life – increased mileage and maximum durability
- More driving comfort with reduced noise level
Main innovations:
Alpine Sense Grip: The winter optimized tread pattern with the Alpine Grip tread compound provide an exceptional combination of first-class grip on snowy, slushy, and wet roads while offering predictable and balanced driving experience.
Snow Claws: Balanced grip on ice and snow. The snow claws effectively grip their surface when driving on soft snow, providing high-class grip when braking and accelerating.
Slush and water channels: Effective slush and water flow. The channels store water and slush between the tire and the road and accelerate the flow away from the tire. This prevents dangerous aquaplaning.
Aramid Sidewall technology: Extreme durability. The extremely strong aramid fibers strengthen the tire’s sidewalls providing more durability and protection for demanding driving situations. The fiber makes the tire more resistant to impacts and cuts that could otherwise easily damage it.
Patented safety
For added safety, Nokian Snowproof C features a Driving Safety Indicator (DSI) patented by Nokian Tyres. The location and pressure indicators on the information area on the tire’s sidewall also improve safety. The information area allows for recording the correct inflation pressure and installation location when changing the tires. Comfort and safety are further improved by an additional section that can be used to record the tightening torque of bolts.
*Winter tire survey 2019. The data is based on an online panel survey taken in December 2018-January 2019 by Nokian Tyres in cooperation with YouGov research company. The survey was conducted in five countries (Germany, France, Italy, Poland and Czech Republic) with a sample of 500-2,000 respondents from each country.
