Leicester charity in last call for marathon effort to help victims of abuse
A charity which has helped thousands of victims of abuse is making a late appeal to people who have not already committed to don their trainers for the Donington Park Half Marathon.
The event takes place on Sunday November 15, with all proceeds going to Living Without Abuse, a charity which has supported vulnerable people since the mid- 1970s.
Kathryn Hicklin, of law firm QualitySolicitors Mander Cruickshank, which are the main sponsors said there is still time for people to commit.
“We want 2015’s event to be memorable and particularly we would like to see as many friends and work colleagues as possible get together for the team relay baton challenge, which is a great opportunity for cementing friendships and creating great memories.”
She praised the work of the charity saying they have helped many lives.
“This wonderful charity has intervened to help so many people over four decades,” said Ms Hicklin.
Last year, around 400 runners raised almost £6,000 and just as in 2014 there will be a half marathon, and also a One Lap Fun run and a Team Relay Baton Challenge.
“The kindness and great efforts of the public has enabled Living Without Abuse to help so many people over the years,” said Gina King, head of fund raising for the charity.
“The Donington Park Half marathon was a fantastic success last year and we are aiming to build on that and it’s a great chance to run on this iconic track,” she added.
