Photographer: NOMOS Glashütte

A date to remember: Tangente 38 Date reminding us of August 19, International World Humanitarian Day. This is when those aid workers who have lost their lives in the service of others are commemorated. The date of this annual event also marks August 19, 2003, when 22 people lost their lives in a bomb attack in Baghdad—including the then Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Iraq, Sérgio Vieira de Mello, and several of his staff.
