Nordic Cinema Group expands in Espoo
Finnkino, part of Nordic Cinema Group, and Citycon have agreed on a new multiplex cinema in connection with the renovation and expansion of the shopping center Iso Omena in Espoo. The new cinema will be located in the heart of Iso Omena and close to public transportation. The opening is planned for spring 2017.
In the future, Espoo residents can benefit from a more diverse range of films, thanks to the new cinema being larger than before. In addition, visitors will get a world class cinema experience in that all screens will be equipped with the most advanced technical solutions available. The new cinema will have seven screens instead of three, and a total of 925 seats.
“We are delighted to be involved in the development of one of Finland's largest entertainment centers and to contribute to greater diversity in film and cultural experiences. The new modern cinema will have a great location next to the restaurant world and the new western subway will make Iso Omena attractive and easy to access by public transportation in the future”, says Finnkino’s Chain Manager Ismo Määttä.
“The new multiplex is a perfect example of Nordic Cinema Group’s strategy in practice. We grow our presence in places where people meet – in central and populous areas, close to restaurants and shopping streets. In these locations, the strong demand for affordable out-of-home entertainment suits perfectly with the world-class cinema experience we offer. The rebuilt Iso Omena is an ideal fit for all of our strategic criteria,” says Nordic Cinema Group CEO Jan Bernhardsson.
The renovation and expansion of the Iso Omena will lead to both larger area and a wider range. After the expansion, it will be one of Finland's largest shopping centers with more than 200 different shops and activities.
