Finnkino, part of Nordic Cinema Group, will build a nine-screen multiplex cinema in a new shopping centre in eastern Helsinki.

Finnkino and Kesko have agreed to build a new multiplex in Kesko’s new shopping centre in eastern Helsinki. The multiplex, which will have nine screens, is scheduled to open in 2019.

“The new multiplex is a perfect example of Nordic Cinema Group’s strategy in practice. We grow our presence in places where people meet – in central and populous areas, close to restaurants and shopping streets. In these locations, the strong demand for affordable out-of-home entertainment suits perfectly with the world-class cinema experience we offer. The new shopping centre in Itäkeskus is an ideal fit for all of our strategic criteria,” said Nordic Cinema Group CEO Jan Bernhardsson.

“We are very pleased to bring our world-class cinema experiences to the new shopping centre in Itäkeskus. Helsinki’s residents have been hoping for a cinema in this area for years, and we are happy to be able to meet their demand. The shopping centre is situated in a prime location, and will be a welcome addition to our network of cinemas in Finland,” said Finnkino’s Chain Manager Ismo Määttä.
