  • NENT Group to premiere at least 20 original productions every year

‘Hammarvik’, created by best-selling Swedish author Camilla Läckberg, is the next original production from Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group), the Nordic region’s leading streaming company. The innovative 16-part series blends crime drama and soap opera, and will premiere exclusively on NENT Group’s Viaplay streaming service across the Nordic region in late 2020.

Once an economist, now the queen of Nordic crime fiction, Camilla Läckberg has sold more than 24 million novels around the world. ‘Hammarvik’ (Swedish title: ‘Lyckoviken’) combines compelling character-driven drama with the trademark cocktail of suspense, secrets and Swedish scenery that have made Läckberg the sixth most-read author in Europe today.

Casting for ‘Hammarvik’ is ongoing and filming will begin in spring 2020 in Trollhättan in Sweden. The series is co-produced by Nordisk Film TV, with Charlotte Berlin (‘Maria Wern’) as creative producer, and Film i Väst. ‘Hammarvik’ will be distributed globally by Eccho Rights, who have recently sold NENT Group’s original series ‘Honour’ to RTL in Germany and VRT in Belgium.

Filippa Wallestam, NENT Group Chief Content Officer: “Camilla Läckberg’s writing has an unmistakably cinematic style ideally suited to this project. The unique combination of crime drama and soap opera in ‘Hammarvik’ will enable Viaplay audiences to follow richly developed characters and explore multiple storylines – while unravelling a mystery in the best traditions of the Nordic crime genre. We continue to reimagine Nordic storytelling for the streaming era, and this collaboration with one of Sweden’s most successful authors shows the scale of our ambitions.”
