  • NENT Group to premiere at least 20 original productions every year

The next original series from Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) is the drama ‘Box 21’, which is based on the bestselling crime novel by Swedish writers Roslund & Hellström. ‘Box 21’ is produced by Miso Film and will premiere across the Nordic region in 2020 exclusively on NENT Group’s Viaplay streaming service.

Two young women seek revenge on the men who lured them from eastern Europe to Sweden with false promises of a better life. Meanwhile, a mysterious figure takes hostages in a Stockholm hospital morgue. With the lines between criminal and victim rapidly blurring, police inspector Ewert Grens (Leonard Terfelt: ‘The Bridge’) struggles to untangle a complex and deadly web of secrets. Does the elusive Box 21 of the title hold the answer?

‘Box 21’ is the first of four NENT Group original shows to be based on the novels of crime writing duo Anders Roslund and Börge Hellström, whose books have been translated into more than 35 languages.

The series co-stars Mimosa Willamo (‘Deadwind’), Simon J. Berger (NENT Group’s ‘Hidden’), Joakim Sällquist (‘Goliat’), Sandra Andreis (‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’) and Ellen Jelinek (‘Miss Friman’s War’). Mani Maserrat (‘Modus’) directs and filming will take place in Sweden and Romania.

‘Box 21’ is produced by Sandra Harms (‘Modus’) and Karl Fredrik Ulfung (‘Young Sophie Bell’) for Miso Film. The screenplay has been written by Dennis Magnusson (‘Jordskott’), Stefan Thunberg (‘Wallander’) and author Anders Roslund.

Jakob Mejlhede Andersen, Viaplay Chief Content Officer: “Opening ‘Box 21’ will be a unique experience for Viaplay viewers. This highly ambitious series will reflect the unflinching realism, moral complexity and engrossing storylines that have established Roslund & Hellström as some of the most acclaimed crime novelists in the Nordic region and beyond. Our customers can look forward to three additional original series inspired by these talented authors, as NENT Group continues to reimagine the future of Nordic storytelling.”
