Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group), the Nordic region’s leading streaming company, will premiere the Swedish film ´Glacier’ as its next Viaplay Original. The dystopian drama is written by bestselling author Camilla Läckberg and is her first film script. Starring Lena Endre and Alexander Karim, the story tells of a world in the midst of a full-blown pandemic, where the main characters are forced to choose between love or life. ‘Glacier’ is yet another film that will premiere exclusively on NENT Group's Viaplay streaming service later this spring.

The world is in chaos. Half of humanity has died as the result of an ongoing pandemic. All human contact is forbidden. The military is surveilling the streets and people caught outside face a firing squad. For those who can afford to pay, there are exclusive quarantine hotels in 100% isolation. A former doctor (Lena Endre) has already spent three months there when a pastor (Alexander Karim) checks in. Their relationship begins innocently enough after accidently bumping into each other, but quickly evolves into a secret and socially-distanced love affair. Soon they are confronted with the choice between following their hearts or fighting for their survival.

With 28 million books sold worldwide, Camilla Läckberg (NENT Group’s ‘Hammarvik’) is Sweden’s bestselling author and ‘Glacier’ is her first film script. The film is directed by Baker Karim (‘Malcolm’) and together with Alexander Karim (NENT Group’s ´The Lawyer’) this is the debut for the trio’s newly established production company ‘Bad Flamingo’.

Camilla Läckberg: “‘Glacier’ is a love story that takes place during a pandemic, and the inspiration comes from what we all have experienced the past year, but in a slightly twisted version. This is my first film recording ever and I'm so impressed by all the talents both in front of and behind the camera. It has been a privilege to see Lena Endre and Alexander Karim act and Baker Karim direct. I am very grateful to have been able to do this and I hope that all viewers will love the film.”

‘Glacier’ is produced by producers Olivier Guerpillon (´Sound of Noise´), Frida Hallberg (´Earthbound´) and David Nzinga.

Filippa Wallestam, NENT Group Chief Content Officer: “I am really thrilled to announce this beautiful love story written and created by some of Sweden’s biggest storytelling talents and starring two of our greatest actors. ‘Glacier’ was shot during a very difficult period and it is impressing how stunning the results are – I cannot wait for our viewers to see it. Like ‘Glacier’, more and more films premiere straight onto streaming services now and NENT Group is in the forefront of this development.”

Shootings in Stockholm was finalised late last year and ‘Glacier’ will premiere on NENT Group’s Viaplay streaming service this spring.
