Nordic Iron Ore choose Oxelösund’s harbour for shipment of iron ore

Nordic Iron Ore AB (publ) has signed a letter of intent with Oxelösunds Hamn AB for iron ore deliveries of up to 5 million tonnes per year, which meet the expected production volumes when Ludvika Mines reach full production rate towards the end of 2018. Oxelösunds Hamn already has facilities with sufficient capacity to, during the first years, enable storage and shipment of iron ore. The facilities will be developed and expanded over time to meet Nordic Iron Ore’s requirements.

“This is an important part of the on-going work to set up the supply chain ahead of the ore transports from Ludvika Mines, and we are very pleased to have reached an agreement with Oxelösunds Hamn”, says Christer Lindqvist, CEO of Nordic Iron Ore.

”We are very pleased to be able to offer Nordic Iron Ore an efficient solution for receiving, storing and shipping ore products. Oxelösunds Hamn is decidedly a bulk harbour, and we see ore exports as a natural development”, says Erik Zetterlund, CEO of Oxelösunds Hamn

An existing national railway network connects the mines and harbour and Nordic Iron Ore is currently engaging with train operators for the procurement of train transportation of the mine products between Ludvika and Oxelösund’s harbour.

About Nordic Iron Ore

Nordic Iron Ore AB (publ) is a mining company with the ambition to revive and develop the iron ore production of Ludvika Mines in Blötberget and Håksberg. About Oxelösunds Hamn

Oxelösunds Hamn is one of the most important harbours in the Baltic Sea. The harbour has many advantages: it is coastal, ice-free, has short approach and a unique railway connection to Bergslagen with Borlänge, Ludvika and Grängesberg. The water-depth is 16.5 meters, which means that the harbour can accommodate the largest vessels that are able to traverse to and from the Baltic Sea. The harbour is manned day and nights, making it possible to load and unload immediately after they make land, which satisfies efficiency demands of shipping companies on modern harbours.
