Nordic Iron Ore has been granted a mining concession for the Håksberg field

Nordic Iron Ore’s application for a mining concession regarding the mineral resources in the Håksberg field, Ludvika, has been granted by the Swedish mine inspector (Bergsmästaren). The decision is an important step in Nordic Iron Ore resuming the operations in Ludvika mines - Blötberget and Håksberg and exploration of the intermediate Väsman field.

On December 15th 2011, the Swedish mine inspector (Bergsmästaren), according to the mineral law, granted Nordic Iron Ore’s a mining concession regarding the iron ore deposits in the Håksberg field in Ludvika. The mining concession permits extracting of iron, copper, gold and molybdenum during 25 years with an optional prolongation.

– We’re pleased to have received this news. Our ambition is to meet a growing global demand for high concentrated iron ore products by reopening the Ludvika mines. With mining concessions for both Håksberg and Blötberget in place we are a step closer to our final goal, says Christer Lindqvist, CEO, Nordic Iron Ore.

The Håksberg field contains 12 Mt indicated and 25 inferred Mt of mineral resources with an average grade of 36 percent[1] iron.

In August 2011, Nordic Iron Ore was granted a mining concession for the mineral resources in Blötberget.
